Dancers Anna Wang and Sophie Shao demonstrate incredible flexibility, core strength, and balance on the stage of the Edinburgh Playhouse.

Photos from Tour: A Jump Start to the 2023 Season

• Kicking off the new season with vigor! Dancer Anna Wang prepares for two sold-out performances in Edinburgh, UK.
• Stretching is of course another key part of performance prep! Dancers Sophie Shao and Anna Wang work on their oversplits.
• The Balmoral, a five-star hotel and landmark in Edinburgh, stands majestically against the crystal blue sky.
• January may be the coldest month to visit Edinburgh, but there's nothing like warming up with a bowl of ramen.
• Another great way to brighten a cold day? Make a stop at a donut shop!
• The group is all smiles after the sweet treat. And the calories will be burned in no time!
• On a day off, principal dancer Nara Oose sets out to explore the Royal Mile—Edinburgh's most famous street.
• Nara is joined by fellow dancers Karina Fu and Jessica Si. Christmas may be over, but the holiday spirit is still alive.
• While visiting London, principal dancers Michelle Lian and Angelia Wang hop off the tube at the famous Covent Garden.
• One of the most spectacular in London, the Christmas tree in Covent Garden's historic Piazza is over 60 feet tall!
• After 11 successful performances across 4 UK cities, Shen Yun New York Company is on the plane back to the United States. Shen Yun will be back in London in April. Can't wait!
• Meanwhile, dancers from the Shen Yun Global Company celebrate after 10 well-received performances in Berlin — the first stop on their 2023 European Tour.
• The artists love the experiences each city has to offer. Berlin Cathedral's stunning copper dome is a highlight of the city's skyline.
• Principal dancer Ethan Guo in front of the Abgeordnetenhaus of Berlin, the state parliament of Berlin, Germany.
• More than thirty years after its fall, the Berlin Wall still evokes feelings of sadness and sorrow.
• Across the pond in America, dancers from the Shen Yun New Era Company stretch their legs after a ten-hour bus ride from Berkeley, California, to Portland, Oregon.
• In Dallas, Texas, principal dancers Olivia Chang & Ellie Rao from the Shen Yun International Company warm up before performing at the Winspear Opera House.
• Sideways, forward, backward, and even forward while moving backward—a variety of kicks are key elements of classical Chinese dance.
• The zi jin guan (literally
• At the next level up, the zi jin guan jump is an explosive technique performed midair.
• Principal dancer William Li is ready to immerse himself in the World of Coca-Cola, a museum in Atlanta, Georgia.
• A dancer prepares himself for the tasting room —where you can sample over 100 Coca-Cola beverages from around the world—with an aerial.
• William and fellow dancer Jisung Kim are part of the
• Male dancers from the Shen Yun International Company beam with delight as they visit the Garden of the Gods, a National Natural Landmark in Colorado Springs.
• The female musicians are glad for the opportunity to hike too!
• Erhu soloist Linda Wang goes solo among the red rock formations, a feature of the Garden of the Gods Park.
• What does it take to move a giant rock? Dancer Jeff Chuang tests his muscle strength nonchalantly.
• Sometimes you just have to take a leap of faith. Dancer Lionel Wang reaches for the sky.
• A well-earned rest after the climb!
• A peep of the park's awe-inspiring rock formation from afar.
• It's hard to decide who's more adorable: the baby bears, or Erhu soloist Linda Wang?
• Shen Yun World Company is currently on a ten-city tour of Japan.
• The bamboo forest in the beautiful Kamakura Performing Arts Center instills in the training session a sense of peace and serenity.
• To enter Sensō-ji, the oldest temple in Tokyo, you must first pass through the Hozomon Gate. The red lantern (known as chōchin in Japanese) weighs a whopping 880 pounds!
• One of Japan's most well-known sites, the O-Torii (Grand Torii Gate) seems to float in the sea during high tide.
• The artists leave their mark on Virginia Beach. Don't forget to tag us in your photos this season! #shenyun2023
